Life can change in an instant, and for Sofia, it did on December 2, 2020. What started as a typical day for any seven-year-old ended with a cardiac arrest in the middle of gym class. Thanks to the quick action of the vice principal, who performed CPR on her until EMS arrived, Sofia’s life was saved. She was taken directly to the IWK, where she was diagnosed with a rare heart disease called Restrictive Cardiomyopathy. The only option was a heart transplant, and so the waiting began.
